At first glance residential units designed according to the principles of Universal Design do not look any different from other well-designed units, due to many user-friendly features “transparently” incorporated into the space. Access is in the details; such as, touch pads (at a lower level) instead of light switches, raising electrical outlets, better task lighting, wider doors and hallways, door levers in lieu of knobs, and non-slip floors are several such affordable design solutions.

Price premiums are a consideration when more elaborate components are integrated into the accessible design solution for your home. A variety of custom Kitchen and Bath designs, along with desirable spacious areas do increase the cost of such units. Ideally, each unit should be customized to suit specific concerns, since there’s a broad spectrum of solutions to accommodate your needs. We can work with you to achieve a personalized design, ensuring your needs and desires are satisfied.

Spatial design and personal identity are closely linked. A unit that resembles a hospital or nursing home has the effect of reducing the occupants’ sense of capacity. We believe our thoughtful and well-executed high access units will enhance your present quality of life and serve you well, as you age in place.
